Training content
OLDER ADULTS (Provincial certification - Québec)
Theory (10 hours of virtual classes):
- Fitness and aging;
- Benefits of physical activity;
- Obstacles to physical activity;
- Working with older adults;
- Class components;
Practical (14 hours of virtual classes):
- Warm-up;
- Cardiovascular component;
- Muscular component;
- Stretching and relaxation exercises;
- Progressions and regressions.
Students must complete an online final theory exam at the end of the course.
Participants must hold a valid Heartsaver® CPR AED with Child Module or with Child & Infant Modules certification in order to obtain their Functional Training for Aging Adults Certification.

Functional Training for aging adults (bilingual)
The purpose of this section is to show fitness instructors how to lead safe, effective and dynamic group classes for seniors in their area of expertise.

- Prerequisite: Completion of FIT Basic Theory course and hold a YMCA Personal Trainer certification, Group Fitness certification or Aquafitness Fitness certification.
