West Island YMCA

News from your YMCA

June 7, 2021

While we are pleased to see the government loosening public health restrictions, a year into the pandemic, the YMCA’s revenues have been severely affected and the time has come for us to define the approach we will take this year.

Our verdict: we are sad to announce that we will not be able to resume our sports activities at the West Island YMCA in 2021, even once the government gives us the green light.
The centre’s financial situation, which was already precarious in 2020, has been weakened further by the pandemic and more so than we anticipated. We are thus actively seeking a partner to support us in the maintenance of our centres, both for the West Island Y but also for many of our other centres. This partnership would allow us to focus on pursuing our work to meet the pressing needs of the community.

Stay Active with the Y

If you would you like to resume fitness activities with the Y, there are three options available to you:

  1. You can transfer your membership to the Westmount, Cartierville, or du Parc YMCA. You can write us at contact@ymcaquebec.org or call us at 514 687-9622.
  2. You can join our outdoor group classes this summer, click here to check the programming.
  3. You can participate in our virtual group classes from home at any time.

The Y’s Ongoing Social Impact in the West Island

To support the local community, we are still offering our youth and community programs, both in person and online. We are able to do this thanks to program-specific subsidies.

Please monitor the West Island YMCA Facebook page for more information.

During this time, we thank you for your solidarity and we hope that you and your family and friends will continue to progress while you stay at home to fight the pandemic. We look forward to seeing you again.
